SUBJECT: NFAC Terminal. Installation
REFERENCE: NFAC #4148, dated 7 July 1981
Sub: NFAC Priority Terminal Installations
1. As you have perceived, the situation with regard to
terminal installations is rapidly becoming a severe problem.
The projected population of these installations is of such a
magnitude that we are now reviewing the entire program with the
Offices of Logistics, Data Processing and Communications. The
long term solution will probably be explained to a meeting of the
EXCOM, but its implementation is not near at hand.
2. We understand that the installation or relocation of
terminals for the Pilot Mail Operation is of singular importance
to NFAC, and understand, too, that OMB has given you a September
deadline for a report on your experience with integrated work
stations which incorporate terminals in so-called "systems fur-
niture." We have scheduled the OPA and OER installations for
the week ending August 21, but an inescapable commitment to
complete the communications installations supporting the new
wilding makes it impossible to meet your July 24 request
for OSWR. We will make every effort to minimize the delay in
completing the latter work so your staff may have sufficient time
to gather the data for the OMB report.
