SARY-SHAGAN MISSILE TEST CENTER LAUNCH COMPLEX B, USSR
1. SIGNIFICANCE: ABM-1B GALOSH LAUNCH PREPARATIONS ARE IN
PROGRESS. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: GALOSH CANISTERS HAVE BEEN ENGAGED AT LAUNCH
POSITIONS C2 AND C3 SINCE THE GALOSH CANISTERS AT 25X1
LAUNCH POSITIONS Cl AND C3 HAVE BEEN ROTATED FROM THE LOADING
AZIMUTH AND ARE IN THE RAISED POSITION. THE CANISTER AT C2 IS
HORIZONTALLY ENGAGED ON THE LOADING AZIMUTH. SINCE 25X1
AT LAUNCH TEST SILO C4 (NOT ON GRAPHIC), THE SILO DOORS HAVE
BEEN OPENED, AN ENVIRONMENTAL COVER HAS BEEN PLACED OVER THE
SILO, AND THE EXHAUST DEFLECTOR RING HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE
APRON. (SWN)
LAUNCH COMPLEX B IS THE RESEARCH/DEVELOPMENT AND CREW TRAINING
LAUNCH COMPLEX FOR THE GALOSH ABM SYSTEM. THE LAST LAUNCH OF
AN ABM 1B GALOSH WAS FROM SILO C5 IN EARLY JUNE 1983. (SWN)
