TITLE/SIGNIFICANCE:
New Soviet radio van truck: O1IS-066-02
COMMENT:
A new Soviet radio van truck, given the interim designation OMS-066-02,
has been identified at Omsk Ammunition Plant 213 and/ Electronics Vehicle
Plant and at Rangsdorf TAA Signal Regiment/GSFG 0
It is a GAZ-66 with a low, flat-roofed box-bodied van. CBR
filter gear is on the front of the van body. A long box is centered on
the van roof, and two canvas-covered possible antennas are at the rear of
the roof. A round canvas-covered object is at the front of the van roof.
Catwalks, mast sections and storage boxes are on each side of the long box.
The vehicle has always been seen with an R-405 generator trailer. The
OMS-066-02 may be a new version of the R-405 radio relay system.
