EXERCISE IS IN PROGRESS. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: THE SL-Y IS ON THE TRANSPORTER-ERECTOR AND IS ALIGNED
WITH THE LAUNCH PAD, BUT HAS NOT YET BEEN ERECTED. THIS IS THE
FIFTH ON-PAD-EXERCISE INVOLVING THE MEDIUM-LIFT SL-Y LAUNCH
VEHICLE. THE SL-Y WAS NOT IN THE LAUNCH AREA 25X1

THE SL-Y IS ONE OF TWO NEW SPACE LAUNCH VEHICLES BEING TESTED
AT TYUPATAM AND WILL PROBABLY BE THE FIRST TO USE HIGH ENERGY
PROPELLANTS. DURING THE LAST EXERCISE ON 10 SEPTEMBER, CRYOGEN
VENTING WAS OBSERVED FROM THE ERECTED VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAVE
BEEN PART OF A NEW AND MORE EXTENSIVE TESTING/TRAINING
PROCEDURE PRIOR TO THE INITIAL LAUNCH. (SWN)
