(MRL) BATTALION (BN) HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED IN NICARAGUA.

REMARKS: IMAGERY REVEALED A SECOND BM-21 MRL
B TTALION AT LA PAZ TRAINING AREA. TWENTY-TWO BM-21 MRL
WERE PARKED AT THE TRAINING AREA. NICARAGUAN MRL UNITS ARE
PROBABLY ORGANIZED SIMILARLY TO CUBAN MRL BN WHICH HAVE
THREE BATTERIES OF FOUR MRL PER BN. NINE TO 12 BM-21 MRL
MANAGUA. (SWN)

PREVIOUSLY ONLY ONE MRL BN HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED IN
NICARAGUA. IT IS NORMALLY HOUSED AT THE CUAJACHILLO
MILITARY BARRACKS IN MANAGUA. LA PAZ
TRAINING AREA IS,APPROXTMATELY 26 NM NORTH-NORTHWEST OF
COORDINATES 12-33-26N 086-29-19W (S)
