1. SIGNIFICANCE: THIS SCRATCH-BUILT SS-20 BASE IS THE 44TH
BASE IN THE USSR. rSWN)
2. REMARKS: ON IMAGERY A NEW SS-20 MOBILE 25X1
IRBM BASE, BARNAUL MOBILE IRBM BASE 4, WAS IN THE EARLY
STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION AT S3-04-OON 083-18-30E. THIS
SCRATCH-BUILT SS-20 BASE CONSISTED OF AN OPERATIONS AREA AND
A GENERAL SUPPORT AREA. THE OPERATIONS AREA CONSISTED OF
FOUNDATIONS FOR TWO FIVE-BAY GARAGES AND ONE POSSIBLE
FIVE-BAY GARAGE. CONSTRUCTION OF THE SINGLE-BAY GARAGES HAD
NOT YET BEGUN. THE GENERAL SUPPORT AREA CONSISTED OF
FOUNDATIONS FOR TWO ELEVEN-BAY GARAGES AND ONE PROBABLE
ELEVEN-BAY GARAGE. FOUR ADDITIONAL BUILDINGS WERE ALSO IN
THE EARLY STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION. A TEMPORARY SUPPORT AREA
WAS ADJACENT TO THE BASE. NONE OF THIS ACTIVITY WAS PRESENT
ON PREVIOUS IMAGERY THIS SITE IS ON THE 25X1
WEST SIDE OF THE OB RIVER, 35 NAUTICAL MILES SOUTHWEST OF
BARNAUL SS-20 SUPPORT COMPLEX , AND 33.5 25X1
