He led an unsuccessful, Libyan- 25X1 Sadiq's aides have told US diplomats that he will not try to seize power, but they speculate that the currency devaluation being sought by the IMF could provoke a public Comment: Although Nimeiri has expressed concern that Sadiq could rally the regime's opponents, Sadiq will try to avoid ivin the President an excuse to jail or deport him. INTERNATIONAL: The EC And Global Negotiations Some EC nations probably will urge the US to make concessions to the Third World in order to launch Global Negotiations on economic relations between industrialized and developing countries. The major industrial nations agreed at the summit in Versailles in June to encourage UN General Assembly recommendations to the IMF, the World Bank, and the GATT and other UN specialized agencies in 25X1 order to begin Global Negotiations. The EC believes 25X1 the Versailles text permits the creation of a number of temporary forums.
