1. SIGNIFICANCE: A NEW MOBILE MISSILE BASE, PROBABLY FOR THE
SS-20 IRBM, IS UNDFP CONSTRUCTION AT THIS DEACTIVATED SS-5
LAUNCH SITE. (SWN)
2. REMARK: FOUNDATIONS FOR TWO SINGLE-PAY GARAGES (ERG) AND
THREE FIVE-BAY GARAGES ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN THE FORMER
LAUNCH OPERATIONS AREA. MENSURATION SUGGESTS THAT THE SBG
FOUNDATIONS MAY BE LONGER THAN THE TYPE A OR B SBG NORMALLY
ASSOCIATED WITH THE SS-20 SYSTEM. CLEARING AND GRADING
ACTIVITY FOR AT LEAST FIVE ADDITIONAL SBG ALSO IS OBSERVED IN
THE FORMER LAUNCH OPERATIONS AREA. A CCMMAND, CONTROL, AND
COMMUNICATIONS AREA (NOT SHOWN) IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT THE
NORTH SIDE OF THE OPERATIONS- AREA, AND A TEMPORARY SUPPORT CAMP
CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY 18 TENTS AND ONE MESS HALL IS
NEARBY. (SWN)
IF THIS FACILITY IS CONFIFSMED AS A NEW SE-20 MOBILE IRBM EASE,
IT WILL BE THE FIRST ONE IDENTIFIED WEST OF THE URAL MOUNTAINS
SINCE DECEMBER 1981. (SWN)
