1. SIGNIFICANCE: THIS IS THE FIRST IDENTIFICATION ON OVERHEAD
IMAGERY OF THE HOKUM A, THE NEW SOVIET COAXIAL (TWO
COUNTER-ROTATING ROTORS) HELICOPTER. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: THE HOKUM A IS ON A HARDETAND IN THE KAMOV AREA OF
THE AIRFIELD. PRELIMINARY MENSURATION REVEALS A MAIN ROTOR
BLADE LENGTH (CENTER OF HUE TO TIF OF ROTOR BLADE) OF 7 METERS,
A MAIN ROTOR DIAMETER OF 14 METERS, AND AN OVERALL FUSELAGE
LENGTH OF THE HELICOPTER HAS A STUB WING SIMILAR 25X1
TO ONE ON A HIND ATTACK HELICOPTER. THE WING IS 6 METERS TIP
TO TIP, AND THE HORI20NTAL STABILI2ER IS 3 METERS TIP TO TIP.
A ROTOR SYSTEM, IN DIAMETER, WAS UNDERGOING TESTING 75X1
IN A ROTOR TEST CAGE IN THE KAMOV AREA ON ON 25X1
ROTOR SYSTEM WAS SEEN ON A 25X1
PARTIALLY-CONCEALED HELICOPTER IN THE KAMOV AREA OF THE
AIRFIELD. (SWN)
MOSCOW/LYUEERTSY AIRFIELD, 10 NM SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF
MOSCOW, IS THE MAIN HELICOPTER FLIGHT TEST FACILITY IN THE
SOVIET UNION. (SWN)
