RESPONSE TO OMB QUESTIONS ON MIDAS
QUESTION: What is the interface between MIDAS and SAFE? What MIDAS
data will be entered into SAFE?
The Director, Consolidated SAFE Project Office, requested in
April 1980 that the MIDAS digitized version of the FBIS Daily Report
books be provided to both the DIA and CIA SAFE systems. At that
time, the AUTODIN net was identified as a possible means of providing
the requested input. In October 1981, meetings were held with the
Systems Analysis Staff, OCR, to further define the implementation
options. Final definition of these requirements and interfaces is
scheduled for January 1982.
Currently, all publishable material filed by FBIS field bureaus
is stored in interim SAFE for 6 months.
