Approved For Release 2007/10/19: CIA-RDP85-00024R000300400001-7 9 -OtliKt I 6 February 1981 MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Security Management Staff, DDS&T FROM: D/Chief, Admin Staff, FBIS SUBJECT: Security Enhancement of FBIS Bureaus 1. The 1983 Program Call contains suggested subjects for theme package treatment. One such subject is the strengthening of the security environment of Agency installations and field activities overseas. 2. FBIS currently has 13 bureaus and 2 units overseas. A few bureaus are located within the U.S. Embassy proper or within the U.S. Embassy compound in their own building. The remaining bureaus are situated in commercial office buildings or private residences. Attached are copies of cables received from 12 bureau, chiefs detailing those security measures that would improve their bureau's security. We feel that Amman and Tel Aviv in particular have suggestions that should be given consideration when funding is made available. 3. In the past, FBIS bureaus were often overlooked when overseas security measures were instituted or surveys conducted. In recent years, substantial improvements have been made in scheduling annual, or near-annual, security surveys of FBIS bureaus. As a result, the bureaus, acting on recommendations by security survey teams, have already made improvements in their security posture.
