SUBJECT: Reduction in FBIS Translation Support (FOUO)
1. In January 1982, the DDS&T Comptroller called for a major reduction.
in FBIS FY-82 o eratin funds. Among the many effects of the cut has been a
signs scant rop in the budget available for translating Agency-wide requests
for translations (known as the "ad hoc budget"). With current funding, only
short and priority translation projects can be completed using FBIS resources.
2. Offices like OCR/ISG/EAD/AB, which require the translation of expensive
documents, are being asked to postpone their work, or alternatively to reim b uase
FBIS for the processing costs. In your case, the full translation of PUKHAN
INMYONG SASON will require a transfer to FBIS of $7,500 to complete the
translation.
