SU;t CF: Public Appearances by IBIS Personnel
Following are the kinds of public appearances usually made by FBIS
personnel:
1. Production and Analysis Group officers occasionally present
11 papers at professional or academic conferences.
2. chief, JPPS has occasionally participated as a panel member at
sessions of the American Translators Association annual meetings. Panels
deal with the art or economics of the translating profession.
3. Officers sometimes accompany Agency recruiters to campuses and
give informal talks on foreign language career opportunities to depart-
ment heads, placement officers, or students.
4. Analysis Group analysts occasionally attend national or regional
conferences held annually by such organizations as the American Association
of Asian. Studies, the American Association of Chinese Studies, the Americas.
Political Science Association, and the International Studies Association.
S. Twelve to 15 analysts annually attend academic conferences,
seminars and meetings of one type or another, whether as speakers, panelists
or simply attendees. They are widely known and identified as FBIS though
acknowledge Agency affiliation if asked.
