1. FBIS has reviewed its security needs overseas; the estimated
cost for these is $128K. The first priority, totalling $28K, is for
emergency radio equipment to allow various bureaus to tie into embassy-
controlled emergency radio needs. We feel that an additional $100K
should be allocated for physical security improvements: reinforced
vaulted areas augmented T.V. security, and increased local guard
services.
2. I am attaching a copy of a 20 May 1982 memorandum from the
Acting Director, FBIS to the DDS~T on FBIS1 perceived security needs.
You will note that that memorandum stresses the desirability of a guard
force at the JPRS offices at 1000 N. Glebe Road, Arlington. You may
itish to take this facility into consideration in looking at overall FBIS
security needs. F7
