SUBJECT: Replacement of Wang Printers
I. All Wang 7581 WT and 7581 W-1T printers that were procured
through the Agency contract with Wang Labs will be replaced during the
next several months with the Wang 7582T printer which is now available
in limited quantities. The replacement is necessary because the
(ZIYAD) DSF-T cut-paper feeder is usable only on the 7582T printer
which is compatible with the 7520T, the 7525-3T, and the 7550T Wang
Systems. (The software modifications necessary for using the sheet
feeder on the 7520T and 7525-3T are not yet available.) A decision
was made to replace all printers rather than only those printers that
had accompanying orders for sheet feeders, in order to accommodate any
future-orders for-sheet--feeders for-currently ordered-printers. The
printers will be replaced at no cost to the customer.
2. The first printers to be replaced will be those that had
accompanying orders for sheet feeders. The remaining printers will be
replaced over the next several months. Customers should contact the
Word Processing Branch to schedule installation for their 7582T
printers when they are received.
3. Wang will begin shipping the 7582T printer instead of the
7581 WT or 7581 W-1T for orders not yet delivered after 1 February
1983. Customers placing new orders for Wan S stems should identify
the printers to be ordered as 7582T.

4. Customers who have ordered Wang printers but have not ordered
sheet feeders and wish to do so should forward a Form 88 (Requisition
for Materials and/or Services) or Form 2420 (Request for Procurement
Services) to the Word Processing Branch so that the sheet feeders can
