SUBJECT Chairing Sessions at the SHARE 60.5 Conference
1. I request permission to appear before a non-Government group as
provided for in
2. When approved, I will chair three meetings at the SHARE 60.5
Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, during the week of 22 May. All but one of
these meetings will be open to all attendees. I will be attending the confer-
ence as a representative of the Agency and I am serving as the Manager of
the VM Group within the SHARE organization. The audiences are expected to
be comprised of up to 120 persons from the United States and Canada repre-
senting organizations running large IBM computers. The meetings will be
held in the Phoenix Hilton Hotel; the risk to employee safety is minimal.
Members of the press are barred from attending sessions at this conference.
3. I will be moderating discussions; none of my remarks will be classi-
fied or controversial. The sessions that I am scheduled to chair are:
a. VM GrouP Opening. Representatives of SHARE member installations
will discuss group business and technical issues of general interest
to users of the VM/CMS computer system.
b. Executive Review. The staff of the VM Group will brief the SHARE
Board of Directors and Advisory Council on the status and plans of
the VM Group. Administrative and technical issues will be reviewed.
Attendance at this meeting will be by invitation only.
c. VM Security Requirements. Participants in a committee sponsored
jointly by the SHARE VM/System Management and Computer Security
Projects will discuss requirements for security-related enhancements
to IBM's VM/CMS computer system.
d. VM GrouP Closin Work completed at the conference will be
reviewed and unresolved technical issues will be addressed.

SUBJECT: Chairing Sessions at the SHARE 60.5 Conference
In addition, I will chair several private meetings between IBM executives and
selected representatives from SHARE member installations. The Agency runs
the largest VM/CMS computer system in the world. It is through the visi-
bility we enjoy in organizations such as SHARE that we are able to attract
skilled computer scientists to the Agency, as well as to influence the deci-
sions of the computer vendors upon whom we are dependent.
