Finance. As of 22 June, there were 34 outstanding advances
with a dollar value of $22,620. No accounts were delinquent.
Effective 19 June, the POV mileage reimbursement rate has
from 20 cents to 20.5 cents per mile.
International Data Corporation. A meeting was held with an
IDC representative to discuss our use of their call-in service.
This service provides access to IDC technical personnel and data
bases to answer questions dealing with ADP equipment, services, and
vendors. We have recently become dissatisfied with IDC
responsiveness. The IDC representative, Joe Pierce, indicated
changes are planned to improve the service. We will be carefull
monitoring IDC performance in the future.
Emergency Planning. ODP provided the DDA Plans Officer with
a draft summary of the ODP Continuity of Operations Concept. This
was in response to a request for a brief review of how ODP would
cope with a temporary (less than 30 days), localized disruption of
essential activities and functions affecting the Headquarters
area. A copy of this draft concept is being circulated to senior
ODP managers for review and comment.

Britton-Lee, Incorporated, tested the block multiplexor
channel board on the IBM 4341 at the ESL facility over the weekend
of 11-12 June. There were some minor problems with the board which
were corrected on the spot. The test results provide increased
confidence in the success of similar testing on the IBM 168
scheduled for 24-26 June at the CAMS2 (P/S) Development facility.
Demonstrations are being conducted on the NOMAD2 software
and the OTP software for the EPSON micro-computer.

Processing
Processing completed the Early Support Program (ESP) with
IBM Corporation on their 3088 Channel-to-Channel (CTC) unit, two of
which have been installed in the Ruffing Computer Center and used
in production for the last several months. This hardware is a
critical component in our long-term Single System Image (SSI)
strategy. This hardware also required modifications to the VM/SP
Operating System to support the full range of 64 addresses now
available. Discussions at IBM Gaithersburg centered around the
support we had received from IBM during the ESP and the changes we
would like to see with the unit to make it more usable in our
computing environment.
The Trouble Desk handled a total of 910 phone calls for the
week of 13-19 June; 685 incoming calls, 225 outgoing calls, and
99 Wang calls. One hundred sixty-five of the incoming calls
reported terminal problems. This is a record number of calls
handled by the Trouble Desk. We have been averaging approximately
On 21 June, the TADS application was moved from VM2 to VM1
to enhance overall performance of the VM service.
