SUBJECT: NASA Hits
1. This particular device is for residential use (as
cited for your refrigerator) and therefore has no practical
use at Headquarters where our motors are three phase.
2. Reliance Electric Company (which has recently been
bought out by Exxon) does have a similar device for AC
motors as does General Electric. However, the harmonic
distortion produced by these devices (thyristor) may prove
to be harmful to data terminals and other sensitive equip-
ment in the building.
