We received your letter of 28 Aplil 1982 requesting our declassification
review of the following documents whuch you encountered during the review of
a Navy file from OP-20-G regarding ArMy and Navy collaboration in communications
intelligence between 1941 and 1945:
1. Memo for the Dir of Bud;ft, dtd Jul S, 42 with attachment,
JCS Memo for the President, dtd iu1 6, 42;
2. Memo for the Chairman, .TLS to the Joint Chiefs of Staff,
dtd. Jun 1.8, 42;
3. Army and Navy documents proposing the establishment of the
Joint Army-Navy Communication I;..elligence Board;
4. Memo from General MarshiU to MmiraI King, dtd 18 Aug 45; and
5. Memo from the Chairman, i3rmy-Navy Communication Intelligence
Board to General Marshall and Admiral King, dtd 22 Aug 45.
As the declassification authority for material of or information relating
to the Coordinator of Information and the Office of Strategic Services, we
reviewed the documents and determined that they could be declassified from the
CIA point of view.
