As you may know, the General Accounting Office (GAO), on
behalf of Congress, is investigating allegations that OPC or_
CIA had assisted the immigration of Nazi war criminals into the
U.S. during the late 1940s and early 1950s. In this context,.
two GAO inspectors, John Tipton and Robert Glick, are
interviewing persons who might have some background knowledge
of operations conducted at that time.
Since your name has come to the attention of the inspectors
during the course of their research, we have provided them with
your address at their request. While we have not been told
specifically that they will interview you, we would like to
ensure that you have adequate notification of that possibility.
Should the GAO investigators contact you, I would ask that
you give them your full cooperation. Mr. Tipton possesses
clearances up to and including the SECRET level while Mr. Glick
is cleared up to and including the TOP SECRET level. Their
investigation into alleged OPC or CIA involvement with Nazi war
criminals during the late 1940s and early 1950s enjoys the full
support and cooperation of this Agency. Although I am sure you
will understand that your pledge of secrecy remains effective
regarding Agency operations in general, you s?-i,:ould feel free to
discuss any matter related to allegations of OPC or CIA
involvement in the immigration of Nazi war criminals into this
country during the late 1940s or early 1950s. Should you have
any questions regarding whether you may discuss a particular
topic or disclose particular information, I would ask that you
