STAT
made a survey of the Agency's role in support of machine translation
of foreign languages and presented the DD/R with following recommendations:
a. That the Agency continue its active participation in the present
interagency Committee on Machine Translation Research to achieve a more centrally
coordinated overall program in MT.
b. The Agency fund and actively monitor the central facility for testing MT
research, directing its activities toward satisfying the rgmts of the Intel Comm.
c. The re on =b' the entire program within the Agency be place on ADPS.
STAT d. be phased out over a period of 9 mos. into FY 1963.
e. During phase-out a detailed record of all accomplishments to date be rendered.
