C. 20505 PUBLIC AFFAIRS Phone: (703) 351-7676 I am glad that you found the material we sent you useful. We do not provide statistics nor generally comment on the Agency's rates of alcoholism or mental breakdowns; however, we do not have any facts that suggest our rates are the highest in the government. Thank you for your interest in and support of the CIA. Thank you for the overt material you ?csnt ne last lecember. It's been useful not o:;l;: to update ne,nersonally, but to incorporate in an upcoming University lecture. Perhaps you could clarify this point: While I was still with the Agency I heard it remarked that we had the highest rates of alcoholism and mental b?eakdown of any government department - due to stress. Is that true? If so, does it relate to employees, their dependents or a combi- nation thereof? If it's not true I'll be relieved; if it is, it's worth mentioning to emphasize the professional stress factor.
