Approved For Release 2008/06/03: CIA-RDP85BO1152R000700910041-8.aNT B ? CENTRAL..INTELLIGENCE AGENCY Washington, D.C. 20505 16 MAR 1983 trrSLington, D.C. I found our 3 March meetinq on your Jason Project proposal quite informative. I believe your efforts to create a domestic supercomputer capability address an important national concern. There is little question that the availability of a domestic supercomputer of the type your proposal describes would be a significant national security asset. This agency is closely monitoring its requirements in the supercomputer area. At this time, however, we do not have a validated supercomputer requirement. Unlike some other agencies, we are fortunate that commercially available hardware can generally be expected to satisfy the majority of our RDP requirements. We, therefore; ibietfleve it `a y1d: ip ?e; a$prg pi~ e,:>fq ZIA- to take the ttiit~ia~ttve~ Yri i'ii a tb e'ct such' as yours. The National SO'CUri-]= A4tiicy'or other Department of Defense component would be mare-sifted as a lead agency. _T~ ' !! `y6U once again for sharing your plans with us.
