MEMORANDUM FOR: Office of Legislative Liaison
THROUGH: Deputy Director for Administration
FROM: Robert W. Magee
Director of Personnel
SUBJECT: S. 1879 and H.R. 3852 -- Reimbursement of Federal Employee's
Moving Expenses
REFERENCE: Memo from OLL to DDA, dated 30 September 1983,
Subject: S. 1879 -- Reimbursement of Federal Employee's
Moving Expenses
We have reviewed the S. 1879 and H.R. 3852 concerning reimbursement of
domestic moving expenses for federal employees and find that these bills are not
sufficient to cover the problems being experienced by Agency employees. I am
currently designing a recommended solution to the Agency problem and will share
this with OLL in the very near future. Meanwhile, I strongly urge OLL to
continue to press and support any legislation that will minimize the out-of-
pocket expenses for domestic moves. The Warner and Wolf bills just do not go
far enough and we must do better for Agency employees. Or. the other hand, they
do provide better benefits than is presently the case under the Federal Travel
Regulations.
