Materials are provided on the following topics for your use at tomorrow's breakfast meeting. -- Bombing of US Embassy, Beirut. The enclosed paper addresses what appene public statemen-25X1 a background on those who 25X1 we believe were behind the act, and an assessment of its impact. -- Central America. The DDI has provided a current intelligence briefing on five Central American countries and an assessment of the impact of a cut off of US military aid to El Salvador. -- Suriname. The DDI has provided an update on the situation in Suriname. 25X1 25X1 Unclassified Publications. I have included correspondence from the SSCI on this issue, as well as talking points prepared for your testimony before that committee. Although HPSCI has not become very active on this topic, they may appreciate being filled in on the most recent deliberations with the SSCI and on your statement of Agency policy and it's rationale. -- Counterintelligence. ACIS has prepared talking points on a number of allegations of Soviet arms control violations. The talking points make the distinction between the-intelligence community's role of monitoring and the policy community's role on verification. Senator McClure's recent statements are included. -- Trilogy of Estimates. You may wish to discuss with the committee the three NIEs recently completed on Soviet Strategic Forces, US Capabilities to Monitor Arms Limitations Agreements, and the Soviet Approach to Arms Control. -- Narcotics. Dave Gries prepared talking points on narcotics. These focus on your recent trip and the narcotics control programs underway in the Golden Triangle.
