The Cubans oppose guerrilla participation in new elections. -- In Nicaragua, the Cubans claim they are advising the Sandinistas to maintain the appearance of political pluralism and a mixed economy, but admit this is "only a matter of reassuring Western opinion." It would seem quite unthinkable that the United States would give a government, in which it's people have no say, a free hand to inflict violence on a neighboring country to overthrow a freely elected government and at the same time protect that the aggressor government from its own people.
