I understand that Secretary Weinberger will be alone tomorrow, but starting next week Paul Thayer will be on the scene. 2. The following subjects have been proposed for your discussion tomorrow morning: -- Central America. You may wish to bring Secretary Weinberger up to date regarding your joint response with Secretary Shultz to Moynihan's charge that the Administration is conducting illegal operations -- Middle East. -- Status of Peace Initiative. You may wish to inquire as to Weinberger's perceptions of how things are going. Egyptian Assistance to African Countries. On 6 December you sent a memo to Weinberger, Shultz, and Clark forwarding a proposal suggested by the Egyptians for DoD support to enable Egypt to assist certain African countries. I understand that Weinberger is prepared to respond to this tomorrow morning. Soviet RORSAT. Weinberger has indicated that he would like to discuss the facts and implications of the demise of Cosmos 1402. Included is a press release, as well as yesterday's NID item. As you know, Larry Gershwin was involved in yesterday's White House deliberations on the public release of this information. -- Security. suggests that you may 25X1 wish to inquire regarding the status of DoD's efforts to expand the use of the polygraph in light of some fairly strong resistance. 3.
