Knowing of your interest in employee stock
ownership, I thought that you might find the enclosed
materials of interest. I work closely with Senator Long
in the development of legislation in this area. Enclosed
are the following:
1. October 20 statement in support of estab-
lishment of the Endowment for Democracy.
Note that President Reagan and Secretary
Schultz are quoted at page 3. Senator
Long's statement appeared as part of the
Senate's consideration of the State
Department Authorization Bill.
2. November 18 statement introducing the
Employee Stock Ownership Act of 1983.
In particular, I refer you to the material
at. pages 11-13 (re "A Model of Workability").
President Reagan, a long-time supporter of
employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), is
quoted throughout.
