Dear John:
I would like to express my appreciation for the continued
support offered to INR over the past year by CIA's Office of
Imagery Analysis. The relationship has developed from the
previous two years' arrangement whereby OIA analysts were
detailed to INR. OIA analysts have visited INR and other
offices within the Department of State for discussions and
briefings of published reports, and INR analysts in turn have
visited OIA.
Earlier this Fall, and of STAT
OIA's Missile Systems Division briefed me on OIA's analysis of
a current arms control compliance matter. The briefing was
outstanding and it contributed greatly to my understanding of
an issue in which INR has been deeply involved, both as a
participant in the SALT monitoring process and as intelligence
adviser to State policy-makers.
