Dear Dr. Campbell:
I was disappointed when, due to your busy schedule, YOU,
were unable to join with me and a few of your colleagues from
other colleges and universities on March 23rd. From the
comments of the academic participants, I believe that the
program that day was of interest to them. For my part, I
know that I and my associates here at the Central
Intelligence Agency benefited from the suggestions proffered
by our guests both on how we in the Agency could better do
our jobs and how we could further improve relations with
academe.
The exercise was of such value to me that I have decided
to hold a similar meeting with another small group of
presidents on October 12th. I do hope that you will be able
to join me on that date. The program will be similar to the
one for last'March; i.e., to begin about 9:00 a.m. and
continue to around 4:00 p.m.; to consist of short meetings
with me at the beginning and end of the day and, between
those two meetings, a series of briefings by senior Agency
officials on how we carry out our role in government.
