SUBJECT : Brietings on Soviet
1. (On 8 October 1982,-a full set of briefings and associated
discussion on the Soviet issue were held at
CIA headquarters. This meeting was arranged by the undersigned
at the request of General Donald Lamberson, Director of DoD
Directed Energy Programs/USDRE. The request was relayed to us
through Dr. Alan Pike, DARPA, who also wished to attend.

3. The briefings were well-received and the meeting lasted
from 0930 to about 1430 with one short break,. General Lamberson
expressed satisfaction at having had the opportunity to com-
pletely review the evidence and the analyses on all aspects of
the issue.
4. General Lamberson asked if briefings suc these could
be given to members of his DoD Review Group
We indicated that his revues to o so could be honored
in general, but that the details would have to be negotiated
depending upon the subject and the access approvals for the
audience. General Lamberson also asked specifically to receiv
