b. Review of Sensitive Situations
The Chairman discussed with the members recent intelli-
gence bearing on the Algerian situation, particularly a report on the
nature of possible moves by certain French military elements in
Algeria and the implications that these developments might have for
US interests in the area.
3. Proposed DCID No. 1/4,
Committee on Documentation
(IAC-D-105/22. 1, 7 April)
The members approved the new draft DCID No. 1./4 and agreed
that the standing Committee on Documentation established under this
DCID would replace the existing ad hoc Subcommittee on Information
Processing as of this date. Several members expressed the view that
the new DCID was very well drafted.
The Chairman stated that Mr. Borel would be Chairman of
the Committee on Documentation. He also referred to the broadened
responsibilities of this new committee and emphasized the importance
of members appointing representatives who were so placed within
their department or agency that they would have a wide knowledge of
the problems and policies of their respective organizations in this
field. The Chairman noted that Mr. Borel proposed to consult appro-
priate officials within the IAC agencies in the near future relative to

7. Review of Validity of Heavy
Bomber Estimates
The members noted the Board of National Estimates memo-
randum of 11 April and directed the preparation of a new national
intelligence estimate on the strength and composition of the Soviet
long-range bomber force, with a target date for IAC consideration
of 3 June.
8. Executive Session
At 1210 the Chairman requested an executive session, during
which the members discussed certain developments bearing on the
Indonesian situation.
During the course of this session the Chairman noted that the
first order of business at the next meeting would be a discussion
between members of IAC and USCIB and Generals Cutler and Hull on
questions related to the implementation of the Presidential decision
with respect to Recommendation No. 2 of the President's Board of
Consultants on Foreign Intelligence Activities.
