Approved For-Relear2003/06/20: CIA-RDP85S0036 0000100004-0 r orte# nr Ole rln estigtt#tun aDf 'a uman 108V, INCORPORATED X~7X 440 East 69th St. NEW YORK 21, )V. Y. February 14, 1957 ?, W. Washington 25, D. C. I I tried to get in touch with you before leaving Washington and the Air Force but was unable to do so. My conscience has bothered me about the Committee which I chaired and I felt that I should try to arrange some disposition for its chairmanship. In November, when I went on terminal leave, I requested General Erskine to designate another Defense Prisoner Officer who could step in and replace me on the Committee. I am not sure that this has been done. Therefore, I feel it important now that the Army member, Lt. Colonel John Hagood, be designated as Chairman of our sub-group. We have completed the draft report but some polishing is required before it can be submitted to the full Committee. It may very well be that some minor changes should be made and I feel quite sure that Hagood can pursue this action to its completion at an early date. I should like to express my appreciation for the opportunity of knowing and working with you. This has been a most interesting task in which we have been engaged but one for which I fear that I have not allowed sufficient time. I hope that you will call upon me if there is any service I can perform in the completion of this work or in any other task. Sincerely yours, JLM:pbs James L.
