SUBJECT Evaluation of DI Coverage of the Falkland Islands Crisis
1. I am pleased, of course, that the DI critique of NIO
analyses and relationships turned out as favorably toward the GPF
office as it did. I found my contacts with the Working Group to
be most stimulating and useful throughout the crisis period. My
only suggestion with respect to facilitating such cooperation in
the future would be for DDI to designate specific points of
contact for the functional NIOs to work with as soon as a working
group is formed. It took me some time to get a sense for who
knew what on the various shifts, although I enjoyed talkirrg with
all of the members.
