Approved For Release 2008/04/24: CIA-RDP85TO01 76RO01 500040020-5 i CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY WASHINGTON. D.C. 20505 NOTE FOR: Chairman, National Intelligence Council FROM: John S. Ingley Special Assistant for Nuclear Proliferation Intelligence SUBJECT: Results of Post Mortem Meeting on Memorandums to Holders of SNIE 6-78 1. In a conversation with Walt Elder (Executive Secretary, NFIB) expressed concern that the Chairman, NIC, could appear to be "tasking" NFIB agencies by virtue of the "recommenda- tion" in paragraph 3 of the original memo to NFIB that you signed on 8 March at my request. Hal Ford thought the most appropriate course would be for the DCI to sign the memo which I've redone to this end. I recommend that you forward it to the DCI by signing the attached note for this purpose. 2. FYI, the last time we went through an exercise like signed the memo to the NFIB in his capacity as Acting Chairman of the NIC. Among other responses, the Acting Director, DIA, in a memo to you (28 Jan 1982) com- mitted the DIA to substantial additional work on the subject memo concluded: "DIA believes the post-mortem session on was a useful discussion of an important subject, and encourages similar reviews on a selective basis following other national estimates. You can be assured of DIA's full support for such efforts." Attachment: As Stated Approved For Release 2008/04/24: CIA-RDP85TO01 76RO01 500040020-5 25X1 25X1 25X1
