NORTH VIETNAM
THE NORTH VIETNAMESE ANTICIPATED THE SHORT CHRISTMAS
DAY BOMBING HALT/REDUCTION AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT
TO MOVE SUPPLIES SOUTHWARD.
THE QUANG KHE COASTAL TRANSSHIPMENT POINT
SINCE 1965 THE DEGREE OF LOGISTIC ACTIVITY AT THE
QUANG KHE TRANSSHIPMENT POINT HAS BEEN IN PROPORTION
TO THE US BOMBING POLICY OVER NORTH VIETNAM. DURING
PERIODS OF DIMINISHED ATTACKS OR HALTS IN THE
BOMBING, QUANG KHE HAS BEEN AN ACTIVE LINK IN THE
PANHANDLE LOGISTIC NET.

4. MISSION READOUT: ONLY SLIGHT LOGISTIC ACTIVITY WAS OBSERVED ON
FOUR EMPTY WATERBORNE
LOGISTIC CRAFT (WBLC) WERE NEAR THE ROUTE 1A CROSSING POINT ON THE NORTH
BANK OF THE RIVER. A SMALL STACK OF SUPPLIES WAS IN THE SOUTH BANK AREA
OF THE TRANSSHIPMENT POINT.
LOW-ALTITUDE PHOTOGRAPHY OF
FINGER PIERS HAD BEEN CONSTRUCTED ON THE SOUTH BANK, AND THAT LARGE
STACKS OF SUPPLIES WERE ON THE BANK ADJACENT TO THE PIERS. THREE EMPTY
WBLC AND TWO SUPPLY LADEN WBLC WERE IN THE VICINITY OF THE PIERS.
PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE AREA SHOWED EIGHT CARGO
TRUCKS AND 14 WBLC AT THE NORTH BANK OF THE RIVER TRANSFERRING SUPPLIES
AT THE ROUTE 1A CROSSING. ON THE SOUTH BANK AT LEAST 23 CARGO TRUCKS,
12 WBLC AND DWINDLING STACKS OF SUPPLIES (AS COMPARED TO SUPPLY STACKS
WERE OBSERVED. SIX WBLC WERE IN THE RIVER BETWEEN THE 25X1
TWO POINTS OF ACTIVITY. TWENTY-FOUR CARGO TRUCKS WERE OBSERVED ON ROUTE
1A WITHIN 3 NM NORTH OF THE TRANSSHIPMENT POINT -- EMPTY TRUCKS HEADED
NORTH AND LOADED TRUCKS SOUTH. TWENTY-FIVE CARGO TRUCKS WERE OBSERVED
WITHIN 5 NM OF THE TRANSSHIPMENT POINT ON ROUTE 1A SOUTH OF QUANG KHE..
