Security Conditions in Certain Countries of Southeast Asia
Military action remains unusually light in most
sections of Cambodia, and only a few minor Communist
harassing attacks in the Phnom Penh area have been
reported in the past 24 hours.
The Indonesian government is planning a modest
reception for the Vice President which is expected
to attract friendly welcomi.-ig crowds and thorough
media coverage. There are no indications of hostile
demonstrations, embarrassing incidents or acts of
physical violence planned for the visit. Nonetheless,
Indonesian security forces are taking precautionary
measures to assure a s,.,ooth visit.
There has been no change in the security situa-
tions in the other capitals on the Vice President's
itinerary.
Note: This security memorandum was prepared by CIA. It was
produced by the Office of Current InteZZigence and coordinated
with the Office of National Estimates and the Clandestine
Service.
