SUBJECT Estimates of Communist Aid to North Vietnam
The tabulation below shows our estimates of Soviet and
Chinese aid to North Vietnam for 1955-1972. Additional
amounts, primarily economic aid, generally ranging from
$100 million to about $200 million annually, have been
received from Eastern Europe and other suppliers. Figures
for 1973 are not yet available, but preliminary data indicate
a rise in economic aid and a decline in military aid, a
trend which will probably continue for the next several
years. Some of the figures for earlier years have appeared
in press articles.
