SUBHJECT: Retirement Estimates -
FY 1984, FY 1985, FY 1986
1. On 14 October 1983, I was contacted by (OP/PSS) with a
request to provide "ball park" estimates on non-c erica retirements for
FY 1984, FY 1985, and FY 1986. I informed Al that we are currently updating
our retirement projections, but provided him with the projections made from
our FY 1982 data, which showed:

I also suggested that Al assume that approximately 9.25% of these would be
clerical retirees. (This estimate was derived from our 5 1/2 year attrition
study, done for the DDCI in FY 1983).
2. Al indicated that he intended to use the data for cost estimates in
developing the "Agency Reserve" concept. He indicated that he understood that
the estimates were rough, and would let us do a more accurate work-up before
quoting specific numbers.
