1. 'I'bis memorandum requests that OGC sponsor the costs of
attendance at the American Statistical
Association Annua (ASA) conference in Toronto in August 1983.
As the attached reference indicates, your office feels that his
attendanc 'n h gency's interest because it will better
establish credibility as an "expert" witness,
should it be necessary for him to function in this capacity.
The costs will include travel from Washington, D.C. to Toronto,
Canada and return; and per diem expenses in Toronto for four
days (15-18 August 1983).

his presentation paper during normal work hours. However, CP
is unable to sponsor his attendance because of a lack of
