Energy, its scarcity and cost, is a serious problem in the
Keys. So much so that on 25 March-Captain Thomas Brown, com-
manding officer of the U.S. Naval Air Station in Key West, cal-
led an urgent meeting of all command officers and chiefs of
tenant groups. At this meeting, attended by Key West Bureau
chief, Captain Brown reported that the Navy is taking very
stringent measures to conserve energy and warned that unless
all units should also do s-o the Navy would not be able to pay
for air conditioning come summer. This threat really affects
nonreimburs-ible units and organizations, not FBIS, but the
general effect was to make all of us more aware of the special
need to conserve energy within our own units. n
