" CONFIDENTIAL SUBJECT: Exerpts from Headquarters Building File (Legal) 19 November 1954 Memo for DD/A, subject: Proposed CIA Building, established the fact that the Chairman of Senate Armed Services Committee was notified on 29 August 1951 of the Agency's intention of constructing a Headquarters Building. Also, the Senator from Virginia was notified by an informal courtesy call. This memo was updated by a M/R dated 12 November 1969. 11 May 1955 Memo for DD/A, subject: Legislative Steps to Secure Passage of Legislation for a CIA Building. This memo indicates pro- cedure that was followed within the Senate and House each with their own bills. 4 August 1955 M/R, subject: Steps to be Taken in the 84th Congress, 2nd Session, to Secure the Remartng Funds for the Construction of the New CIA Headquarters Installation. This M/R was divided into five major paragraphs with an attachment listing the questions asked by the Senate Defense Appropriations Sub- committee in 1955 of Air Force Officials about the proposed Air Force Academy. The five major paragraphs are: I Assumption II The amount of money required III Where these funds should be located IV Facts required for presentation V Contacts to be made (see attachment) 18 November 1955 M/R subject: CIA Headquarters Building.
