MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Building Planning Staff
1. I note an interesting observation in item 4 of your Weekly
Report of 18 - 22 August 1969. I make specific reference to the
following language:
wants to be sure that one alternative con-
sidered by the BPS is the possibility of placing any further
construction at a distance from Washington. He believes that
this would be far more palatable to even our friends in
Congress."
2. I would appreciate it if, soon after you return from leave,
you would drop up and fill me in more specifically on the matter John
- raises. If his motivation is only tactical, i.e., to show a
congressional committee we considered the alternative and refused it,
then I have no quarrel. If he has any other motivation we had better
get it surfaced immediately in order to size the problem.
