Abstract A description is given of an experiment being conducted
by the Scientific Research Institute of Forest Economy of
Azerbaydzhan (since 1954) on reconstructing the low-value
plantations in the lowlands and mountain regions of the
Republic by using BUCh valuable tree species as Greek
walnut, perair=n) lonG-lcGGcd oak, common ash, edible
chestnut, apricoto etc. The trees were sown or planted
under the followirLa conditions- in a naturally thinned
forest, in a forest which was thinned both naturally and

In an earlier work (DAN A%SSR, No 3, 1951), the author had
reduced
Vlasov's equations for sloping cylindrical shells of arbitrary
configura-
tion to one equation with constant coefficients. In the
present article,
the author seeks the approximate solution to a boundary value
problem for
a shell in which a series of coefficients can be expressed as
polynomials.
He derives a system of linear equations for these polynomials.

ABSTRACT: Optical reflection absorption and dispersion in GaS
and GaSe single crystals
were measured with a quality prism spectrometer at near normal
incidence. The re-
spective spectra are shown in figures 1, 2 and 3. The sharp
decrease in absorption at
618 mv is attributed to exciton absorption. The increase in
reflection with wavelength
at 484 mV for GaS and 618 mp for GaSe was caused by multiple
reflections within the
crystals. The possibility of a relationship between the
reflection peaks and certain
transitions in the Brillouin zone is discussed. The authors
