Abstract : Report of 2 cases of carotid body tumors. Confirming the
differential:-diagnostic sian of the carotid body turlor -
its displacement only in hl-,rizontal direction - the author
determined that by a slight compression of tumor, lowering
of the arterial blood pressure for 90 mine is observed*
This ts suggested also as a differential-diagnostic symp-
tom of this tumor. After removal of the tumor a hyperten-
sive syndrome is observed. -- V.N. Sagaydak.

TITLE: The Treatment of Acrodermatitis Atrophicans With
Intramuscular Injection of Penicillin With Novocaine
P'3~_IODICAL: Voyenno-meditsinskiy zhurnal, 1958, Nr 11, P 87
(USSR)
ABSTRACT: The author gives the following scheme for treating
patients suffering from atrophying acrodermatitis
with penicillin combined with novocaine: 300,000
units of. penicillin and 20 ml 0.5% novocaine were
daily injected into the arteria of the affected
extremity for a period ranging from 14 to 18 days.
At this period, 300,000 units of penicillin were in-
jected intramuscularly daily in order to reduce wash-
ing out of penicillin out of the saturation field.
The same treatment was repeated after 6 - 8 months.
The above method was successfully applied in 4 cases.

ABSTRACT: Engineers In various fields are making wide use of cast-welded structures,
the parts of which consist of stamped details, rolled stock, and steel castings. The
welding properties of cast steel, however, depend markedly on the composition. The
authors therefore developed a now grade 12DKhNGDL steel which welds easily and may
be used for complex castings. First of alf, only 0. 1-0. 2% carbon was used In the
steel, plus the following combined admixtures: chromium and nickel; chromium," nickel

TOPIC-TAGS: moisture content, moisture determination, moisture measurement, moisture
ABSTRAM4 This Author Certificate presents a device for determination of moisture
in gaseW The apparatus consists of a pipe with a mandrelt flow meter#-d-c curren
supply,, and.a current meter (automatic or pointer type). On the mandrel are wound
two platinum electrodes. The mandrel and electrodes are covered with a thin hygro-
scopic film. consisting of a partially hydrated coating of phosphorus, anhydride.
To obtain a uniform hygroscopic film,, the mandrel is made from molybdenum glass and
has bifilar spiral grooves on its surface for the electrodes. To increase the
analytical responsep the distance between neighboring electrode windings is main-
tained constant throughout the length of the mandrel. To increase the absorption of
moisture by the hygroscopic film, a wire is wound on the mandrel in the direction
opposite to the electrodes.:(see Fig. 1). The wire has an organic insulation and has
a diameter equal to the space between the pipe and the mandrel, To signal excess
moisture content in gases~ the device has built into it a d-o triode amplifier and

nound.gonerator and a relayconnected to the sound generator. To avoid errors of
measurement (arising from fluctuations in the gassupply) exceeding the limiting
values compensated for by the flow regulator, the entrance and exit of the flow
regulator are connected to a differential mercury manometer equipped with contacts
which close the circuit of the sound generator. Orig. art. hast 1 figure.

PERIODICAL: Kholodillnaya tekhn-ika, 1959, Nr 1, PP 4-9 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: The capacity of cold storage distributing houses has in-
creased by 67,700 tons within the pastitwo years. All new
refrigerating warehouses have been built in accordance with
standard designs of the Giprokholod and are equipped with
the latest ammonia circulation systemp'air conditioners,
double stage vertical ammonia compressors and other modern
appliances, maintaining a temperature of -180C in the store
rooms and -300C in the freezers. The lower floors are in-
tended for handlingp sorting and Cispatch. In 1957, the
largest cold storage house in Europep having a capacity of
369000 tonsp has been completed in Moscow. In accordance
with the 1958-Plan 17 new cold storage hOUBeB"'Ii~'
been. built with a total capacity of 60~000 tons,

Construction of Cold Storage Houses and the Introduction of New Technique
with a total capacity of 78,000 tons. With the exception of
the cold storage house in Vladimir, which will operate on *
cooling agent Freon-22, all storage housed will use ammonia.
Refrigeration engineering will extend not only to the de-
velopment of cold storage space, but finds useful application
also in the production of ice cream and dry ice, in meat
packing, in milk processingp in deep freezing of foodp etc.
Particular attention is being given to the gasification of
cold storage establishments.Pyconversion from hard fuel to
gas, sanitation is greatly impro7ed and cost of labor re-
duced. The technical equipment of the cold storage houses
has also been greatly improved by the introduction of re-
sistance thermometers connected to electronic bridges or
logometers (current ratio meters) which have been adopted
in 22 establishments, selfrecording manometersq manovacuum-
meters and remote level indicators. During 1957-58, 202 con-
trol measuring apparatus have been installed. During the
same period the freezers of periodical action have been -re-
placed in all cold storage houses by continuous-action freezers,

tion of ice cream is being greatly extended in brick form on
waffles or in waffle containers. In Leningrad operates an
automatic packing machine turning out 5 tons of ice cream in
waffle cups. A new type of ice cream is the so-called
'feskimo" covered with a glazed chocolate layero Particular
attention has and will be paid to the mechanization of load-
ing, unloading and material handling operations by means of
lift trucksg electric trucks and staple piling machines.
Lack of trays prevents full use being rade of these appli-
ancesi the same applies to roller conveyors or tracks which
axe not used as much as they could be due to ignorance on
the part of the personnel. In order to increase dry ice pro-
duction the Moscow Plant imeni Mkoyan has been extended to
twice its capacity and equipped with 13 carbon dioxide com-
pressors and 3 presses having a productivity of 15 tons of
dry ice per day. Logometers and electronic bridges are be-
ing installed for distant temperature control. Further de-
velopment of the dry ice production should take place on the
