ABSTRAC"j.: In view of the lack of sufficiently detailed data on the
Fermi surfaces of transition metals, the authors investigated the
galvanamagnatic properties of single-crystal samples of Pd, whose
purity was represented by p(T - 300K)/p(T - 4.2K) = 1500--2100. The
measurements ware made on chemically purified palladium at 4.2K.
The angular dependences of the resistance and of the Hall amf were
normally investigated in fiel-da up to 26 kOe, although some samp-les
were measured in a field of 36 k0e. it has been established that

palladium has an open Fermi surface, and the experimental results
are consistent with a surface constituting a "three-dimens'ional grid
of corrugated cylinderu." with the cylinder axes along the fourfold
axes of the reciprocal lattice. The average constant diameter of
these cylinders is approximately (0.25 t 0.03) b, where b is the
pailadium reciprocal.lattice period in the [1001 direction: b =
- 2(2ir/a), a = 3.88 A. It is concluded that the open surface of
palladium represents holes.
