ABSTRACT: The influence of the nature of the organic solvent on the
extraction of crystal violet fluotantalate has been studied, using
11 organzic solvents. Contrary to earlier~ findings, no relation was
found between the dielectric constant :of these solvents;,nnd their
extractive capacity for the title complex. It was found that the
beat extraotants are dhloro-subdtitutOd hydrocarbons; c'iloroform,
dichlormthane and chlorabenzene. Chlorobenzene is recommended as the
extractant for photometric determination (0.5-5 micro e; per 1 ml solu-
tion). The laboratory procedure is daparibed and the yajobable forma-

found at 0.3-1.2 for chlorobenzene so as to obtain stability and
avoid extraction of the crystal violet. Orig. art. bab 5 fi6ures

'ABSTRACT: The article describes the possibility of separating niobium; from taata-
lum and titanium by the extraction of niobium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC).In

lefficiency of extraction, use vaii made of W2 and'TalUk The experiments have
shown that In amoniun acetate biaer (pH _- 5) Ta does not react with "4PDTC

Thus., tantalum interferes with the extraction of nibbiun if the concentration of
the former exceeds that of the-latter by more than 1-5 times. It vas bere found
experimentally that ammonium p3Trolidined1thiocarbamate in the presence of tartrata'

ABSTRACT: The applicability of the amperometric method to the determination of GaAs
and GaP in samples of minimums '1
.po;osible weight was studied using, a rotating graphite
microelectrode'and the reagent, N~benzqylphenylhydroxylamine (N-BPHA) for the ampero-.
.metric titration of gallium. A preliminary study of the volt-itmpere characteristics
of N-BPHA on a graphite electrod,s was :made;, oxidation waves of N-BPHA were obtain-
ed, and the dependence of E on, the hydrogen ion concentration was determined. For
Y2
acid background electrolytes, th,e diffusion current was found to be proportional to

ABSTRACT: A rapid method for separating trace amounts of gallium and indium by column'
partition chromat6graphy on teflon has been developed. It is based or. the difference
in tho stability of chloride &nd bromide complexes of these elements. The conditions
of separation were determined by studying th~ behavior of gallium and indium in the
systems hydrobromic acid solutions - tributyl phosphate (TEP) and lithium bromide so-
lutions - TBP, th6 extractant used being TBP. In the system 0.8 M FBr - TBP, indium
was found to be qu~antitativsly retained on teflon when tho solution (in which In;Ge
1.1) was passed a~ 0-5 ml/min. Separation of indium from gallium present in the ratio',
1 of 1:800 was also satisfactory. , The systems I M 1ABr - TBP and 3 M HC1 - TBP wori
also f ound to ba,suitable for the quantitative separation of In and Ga. Orig. art.
