ABSTRACT: The author, while observing soil forming rooks at the
southeastern terminus of the Little Caucasus ( Karya-
gino, Dzhebraill, Martuni, and other districts of the
Azerbaidzhanskaya SSR) in 19520 discovered substantial
areas of loeas-type loams beloir the top soile Their
morphological features, conditions of their formation
and their chemical properties prove that these loame
are almost Ldentioal with typical Central Asian loose
thoroughly described in literature. In this region
these loses loams are found in deluvial zones., on the

groups were observed in the lower Mugan' region
ancl in the western rayons of Azerbaydzhan. The
larvae are localized mainly in the area of the
back. GrKA results in treating the buffaloes were
obtained by using the sane preparations which were
used in treating large horned cattle afflicted by
warble fly.

Abstract A temparature of 4-00 resulted In changes in
the composition of the blood. Among animals in
which the cerebral cortex was inhibited, a
rise wasnoted In erythrocyte and hemoglobin
levels, both when the cold factor was present
and after its removal. Leukocytosis was also
observed. In the majority of the sheep in-
creased thrombocyte levels were noted. The
sedimentation rate was usually increase-d. while
the reserve alkalinity of the blood was dimin-

-ABSTRACT: Electron diffractl~n patterns of a double layer of In + Sb, 300 A thick,
obtained by successive condensation.of tke elements at room temperaiure,.showed
the presence of compound InSb'about 100 thick in addition to free In and Sb.
This revealed the partial for,sation of a compound upon deposition of one element
on the other without annealin,g. Further growth of the InSb layer fDrmed was
studied by a kinematic electron-diffraction method, in which isothermal kinematic
patterns were obtained at 200.1 240, and 250C.- The kinetics of the reaction
between In and Sb were studied by analyzing the intenoity of the In3b lines. The
reaction between In and Sb lay~ere was found to depend on the crystailline state of

ABSTRACT: Electronogrems are used to investigate the amor;ibous phase of
tballium selenide. The films were produced by sublimation In vacuum on
crystals of sodium chloride. From the curve of' the radial atomio
distribution there we e found the Tl-Se distances r - 2 90 1,
n, e*%l 2 and r2 = 3.80 N, n -v 7. In the tballium selenid; crystal
lattice the approximate di "lance between the atoms of tballium and
selenium is equal to 2.68 . The tballium stom is surrounded by four
selenium atoms in a deformed tetrahedron. In amorphous tha1lium
selenideo tetrahedrons are riot formed. The method used in -the
investigation involves integral analysis of the curve of tbo experiments:

TITLE- On the Problem of Diagenesia of krgill&oeous Hooke: of the
Baku Archipelago

ABSTRACT: The loamy rooks on the bottom of the Caspian Boa undergo,
during their lithification, considerable changos with respect
to their state and properties. The whole procaus is divided
by the author in 2 stages: a) Primary dia6enesis (mud sedi-
ments of the oandbanks "1906" and Makarov). Thei top parts of
the bottom (Q~3 m) consist of newly deposited loam;r muds.
They exhibit a distinctly liquid consistency im the natural
state, their moisture content exceeds 60% by vaight; the con-
tent of C decreases,vith*au increase in depth, from 1.8

to 1.5, and the content of nitrogen from 0.14 to 0,13%. The
physico-chemioal conditions favor the formation and preservat-
ion of loamy minerals of the hydromica group (Ref 4). b) The
subsequont phase of diagenetio changes is represented by muds

lithification is conditioned by a solidification and dohydrat-
ion of the muds. Already in the natural state, they show a
11 orypto-fl owing" consistency, and their moistijxe varies between
50 and 22%. These muds contain, on the whole, loosely bound
and less "immobilized" water. on the destruct:Lon of their
natural structure, they are*not liquefied and do not exude any
water. Corg and nitrogen are further reduco3d with an increase
in depth. The geochemical procesees favor the minerals mention-
ed in the let horizon: the dehydration of the said sediments
constitutes the principal factor acting upon tbe process of
diagenesis. Newly deposited s#diment (as fine detritus hold
in suspension) contains large 'amounts of free and bound water.
Only with an 4noressing depth of deposition , ,~he bonds hither-
to missing are formed which have been designatiod as structural-
mechanical bonds (Ref 3). They are determined by the indices
of plasticity, consistency, strength# and elasticity. During
the lat stage of diagenesis, the solidificatiott due to gravi-
tation is aocompanied by the separation of free water. In the
course of the 2nd stage, also the water physionlly bound as a

the solution content of the pores also changoo. The 2nd stage
of the formation of properties of loamy rockii can be pursued
in the croas section of boreholes in the arest mentioned at the
beginning, at depths of more than 10-15 m. Tito biochemical
processes are weakened herev while the physic-o-obomical ones
prevail. The said properties are further charged in tho epi-
genesis. T.he result is a cementation and crystallization of
the pore solutions pressed out. The structural bonds are
strengthenodt the rook looses its plastic conidetencyt and
becomes a solid body. Also the mineral compowltion is - though
slightly - changed.(Ref 2). There are 4 Soviet references.
