TITLE:' Manufacturing technology of small-size sintered carbide milling

PERIODICAL: Referativnyy zhurnal, Mashinostroyeniye, no. 20, 1961, 19-20, ab
abstract 2OB85 (V sb. "Vyaokoproizvodit. rezhushohiy instrument,".

TEXT: The author points-out the low service life of small-size gear cutteis
of the steel grades Y12 (U12), 9AC (9A8) and P'18 (R18) and the high labor
consumption of manufacturing such cutters from plasticized sintered carbide
semifinished materials with subsequent.sinterihg after their mechanical working
on metal-outting machine tools. Substituting sintered caAide cutters for steel
cutters.increases the tool life by.a. factor of up to 100.: The author presents
the technology, developed by VNII, of manufacturing imall:;-size disk-type gear
cutters (9; 12 and- 16 mm in diameter)- for.-the watchmaking industry and sintered-
carbide disk-type slitting cutters (with 4,.6 and 10 teeth)-for the electric
engineering industry. The sintered-carbide cutters are manufactured by pressing

in steel dies shaped blanks having a profile which is to a maximum degree approadi-
Ing the desired one, with a minimum allowance for the finish machining after the
sintering of the blank. The author presents the conditions and examples ensuring
the production of sintered-oarbide blanks of the required dimensional aoouraoy
and quality: Uniform pressing of the blanks in,different sections, preservation
of the optimum relation of the dimensions of the teeth and hub eto. A desorip-
tion is given-of the pressing methods, designs of,steel dies and their manufao-
turing methods. A formula is presented to-determIne the overall dimensions of
the dies. The author gives an example of manufaoturing sint 'ered-carbide blanks
for disk-type slitting cutters from the BK15 (VK15) alloy and gear cutters from
the BHG m (MM) alloy. The results are presented of industrial tests carried
.;ut at a number of plants of the disk-type VK15 sintered-oarbide slitting cutter:
the service life increased by a factor of 150 - 200, while the efficiency was
raised by a factor of 2 - 3 in comparison with the steel cutters used formerly.
There are 7 figures and 3 tables.

Abstract: Experiments were cartied out on puppies, 1i -
- 3 months old. The rightfrontal lobe of the
cerebral hemispheres was removed in 8 puppies;
3 of the same litter served as controls. The
leucocyte count (L) in the puppies, prior to
the operation, was subject to great fluctua-
tions and varied from 20,000 to 35,000/ mm-
cube. Injection of 2.5 ml of milk produced a

considerable lessening of the amplitude of

ABSTRACT: The advance of potato growing into the regions of the extreme
north meets with great difficulties due to the short pericd
which is free of frosts On the Kola peninsula a low resistance to
frost superveneaj as temperatures below zero are possible there
every, day also in summer. According to Stepanov temperatures of
-2, -30C injure the potato tops. According to Genkel-and MargolIns.
the resistance to cooling of the plants is dependent on tae pro=
toplasm viscosity, they are the less endangered, the lower the
viscosity. Thus all viscosity-reducing measures exert a favorable
influence on the resistance to frosts According to Yenileyev
Kichigin ammonium nitrate exerts such an influence. Therefore the
author studied these connections. Some macro- and microelements,
were included in the experiment (potassium nitrate, potaissium

ABSTRACT: For determining the positions of a three -dimensional five-
link sliding-block linkage the author proposes a graphic method
which is an elaboration of certain graphical methods for this
purpose which he has proposed previously. One must start by
determining some of the positions of the linkage; any inter-
mediate positions (hence also the kinematic diagrams) are de-
termined with the aid of Newton's rule of interpolation by the
method of successive approximations, with linearization of
small segments of the curve.

This article discusses the kinematic synthesis of one
of the types of spatial, five-membered mechanisms,
which transforms the rotating movement of the crank
into the movement of the rocker. In the mechanisms,
which are treated in this article, the rotation axis
of the crank and that of the rocker meet under an
angle of 1800. Pigure 1 shows a mechanism of this
kind. Its kinematic breakdown is shown in figure 2,
and in a different position, in figure 3. In the fol-
lowing part the author investigates the location of
the characteristic points of the mechanism and the
significance of the angles of the single parts during
several intermediate positions of the crank. 0In this.
investigation, the crank forms an angle of 30 The

PERIODICAL: Izvestiya vyashikh uchebnykh zavedeniy. Priborostroy-

ABSTRACT: At the Second All-Union Conference in March 1958,
Academician I.I. Artobolevskiy broached the subject
of kinematic research of five-linked space mechanism,
transmitting rotating motion around two crossed axlesq
on condition that two others intermediate rotating
pairs are present. The mechanism ball joint is linked
with a support on both sides. By using the rectangu-
lar coordinates system, the author indicates in figure
1 the general layout of the mechanism in question.
The crank OA forms with the support the first rotat-
ing pair; the connecting rod AB forms with the crank
OA the second rotating pair. There is another con-
necting rod BC in the system, which is coupled with
Card 1/3 AB by a ball joint. Connecting rod BC forms with the

TITLE: Efficiency of discrete algorithms for selecting spatial signals with
correlated noise as a background
SOURCE* Radiotekhnika I elektronika, v. 9, no. 7. 1964, 1119-1126
TOPIC TAGS: pattern recognition, noise suppression, signal recognition
ABSTRACT: Based on the findings of T. Merill, et al. (IRE Trans., 1960,
EC-9, 4, 472))and J. Wolf, et al. (IRE Convent. Rec. , 1961, pt. 4. 155), further
formulas are developed that describe the discrete spatial filters intended for the
recognition of patterns distorted by additive normal noise. It Is found that:
1) the . sequence of noise -suppression and spatial-storage operations permits the
materialization of an optimum pattern recognition; 2) with independent correla-
tions between noises in different coordinate orientations the spatial noise-

suppression factor is determined by a product of single -dimensional noise -
suppression characteristics and depends on the degree of correlation of noise in
adjacent elements. and 3) energy losses connected with a nonoptimum noise
suppression depend on the adjacent -ele ment correlation degree; with this degree
0.9 or lower, the losses may reach 10 db or higher. Orig. art. has: I figure,

ABSTRACT: In the case of a clouety atmosphere, the turbulent pulsations of
r-f radiation are compoun6ed by single peaks which are due to the
coomic
!variations of the integral absorption- caused by wind-drifted cloudo in the field of
vision of a radio telescope. Statistical evaluation*of both the turbulent pulsations
((.-lear sky) and the peaks (cloudy sky) in terms of radio-brightness temperature is
offered. An experimenta verification was carried out (in 1963) by means of
modulation radiometers on 2-meter radio telescopes operating at 4- and 8-mm
