ABSTRACT: The authors study the use of photographic photometry In studying explosion wave
spectj for the case of operation on a, time-sweep spectrograph. The explosives studied were
nitromethane, tetranitromethane, and it mixture of 35% tetranitromethane + 65% nitromethane.
A glass shock tube 200 rnm long and 23-24mm Inside diameter was used. Theexpertmental
methods and equipment used are described In detail and the formulas used in analysis of the
spectrograms are given. An enlarged print of the spoctrogram for nitromethane explosion Is
shown. The airwave radiation in this case to weak and momentary. Only the strongly broad-
ened'5890-5896 angstrom doublet was recorded together with neighboring radiation. The

experimental data were used to plot curves for F(x,T) as a function of reciprocal wavelength.
Ibis relationship was found to be linear In all three explosive liquids. The "distribution"
temperatures calculated from these curves are tabulated together with the brightness
temperatures at 602.5 mp and the color temperatures from previous papers. The bright-
ness and color temperatures show satisfactory alleement. Curves are also given for relative
energy distribution in the spectra of the explosion waves. The linearity of F(A . 1) as a
function of I/ X Indicates gray radiation at the dxploston wave front, and the coincidence of
brightness and color temperatures shows that the grayneaB coefficients are close to one
another. A comparison of brightness temperatureausing a ribbon-filament lamp indicates
grayness coefficients from ltoO.5"025. More accurate measurements are fieededto
confirm the coincidence between brightness and color temperatures in explosion wave

The application of stain antigen in test-tube agglutination
in the diagnosis of brucellosis PRZEGL.EPIDEM. 1956, 10/3

The author examined 922 specimens (sera of various animals, whey of cow milk,
sperm of bulls and some human sera) with stain antigen in test-tube agglutination
for the diagnosis of brucellosis. The used stain was 2:3:5-triphenyltetrazol. The
results obtained were better (17.70,1, more positive results) than with the usual
bacterial suspension. On ground of his research the author recommends the use of
stain antigen In the practice of serological diagnostics of brucellosis.
